Pastor David L. Chapman, B.S., M.Div.

My Ministry

Rev. Chapman is a native of Pembroke, Virginia. He attended public school in Giles County and graduated from Giles High School. After receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education from Bluefield State College in May 1973, he taught school for 15 years. In May 1991, Rev. Chapman earned a Masters of Divinity Degree with honors (cum laude) from the Samuel D. Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University.

He began his ministry and was licensed in May 1977 by the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Bluefield, West Virginia. He was ordained on July 8, 1978 by the Flat Top Baptist Ministers' Conference. Rev. Chapman has served in pastoral ministry for over 29 years, to include churches in West Virginia and Virginia.

On June 11, 2006, he was installed as pastor of High Street Baptist Church. He currently participates in the following: V.O.Y.C.E. Committee for the City of Roanoke; member of C.U.R.E. (Clergy to Reclaim the Ecclesial), a member of the New Baptist Covenant Communications Committee.

Reverend Chapman is married to Mrs. Beverly Dickerson Chapman and they have three grown children:  Heather, Amber, and Jonathan.

Reverend Chapman, the first African American minister to preach a crusade at Mombassa on his missionary trip to Kenya, Africa.
